Canterbury walk

This is a walk of about 12 miles starting starting from the historic city of Canterbury and on this festive one, you are welcome to wear Christmas attire, Santa hats, jumpers etc, should you so desire! 

The walk follows some of the North Downs Way (NDW), Elham Valley Way (EVW) and the Stour Valley Walk (SVW). This circuit also utilises, the long distance trail that goes from Canterbury to Rome, named Via Francigena, proving that all roads do indeed lead to Rome. 

We commence by heading north from Canterbury West Station, soon alongside the Great Stour on the SVW towards Fordwich. Continuing on, we turn south through woodland and over to Littlebourne to the church, where our short picnic lunch will take place, there may even be mulled wine to drink and mince pies on offer.

The second-half of the walk, meanders over to the NDW/EVW, for return the to Canterbury, where the annual Christmas market will be in full flow within the grounds of the cathedral. There are a plethora of options in the city for a post walk drink, before catching the train back to Ashford.
